Nothing is really ever explained in the fullest, which can be a tool to make a world seem curious and unknowable, but here it falls a little flat. There are a few characters that are constant throughout the narrative, but even then I found myself asking - Who is this? Why are they here? What do they do again? The characters are not given backstory. As such, you don't really get to know them very well. The characters you meet are transient individuals, as many are on a train ride. All the references lie in bits and pieces of conversation and newspaper clippings, that manage to give information but doesn't necessarily weave a complete foundation. It's a little confusing, but perhaps that's the point - but there's a thin line between making a story mysterious and obfuscating it behind peculiarity. Even with that though, it feels as if the story is delivered in piecemeal manner. You get a glimpse into the lives of the people in the world around you through picking up items and checking texts messages and things like that. You exist in a fictional world, and take the role of a train conductor during a worldwide event, and you must keep the train functioning and its passengers safe. But, as game goes on, you learn more and more about this ominous little world you're a part of. You're thrown into the game not knowing anything about what's going on, you take the place of the protagonist without any real attachment to the narrative.
